This past weekend, Jemma and I embarked on a road trip from the Fraser Valley to one of my favorite places, Penticton. We like to go the scenic route through Manning Park, we always stop there for a rest and to enjoy the playground!
Once we arrived in Penticton we stopped for dinner before checking into the Sandman Hotel. We loved this hotel! It’s walking distance to Okanagan Lake and all the restaurants on the waterfront, and close to the giant peach, Loco Landing, and the SS Sicamous. We really enjoyed their pool and hot tub during our stay.
We got super lucky with the weather this weekend, it was hot and sunny! Hottest weekend of the year so far. Perfect for everything I planned for our weekend.

The next day we decided to have some fun at Loco Landing before hitting the beach. The bumper boats were such a hit!
After our morning fun at Loco Landing, we headed over to the beach to cool off and float around on our inflatable paddleboard. This paddleboard is so quick to inflate, and deflate. And easy to tote around in our wagon, or using the backpack it comes with! We love using the kayak seat attachment so we can paddle around together. After that – we were off to the hotel for a change of clothes before heading to the Malicious Monster Trucks tour at the Penticton Speedway!
Our favorite highlight was the Megasaurus Monster Truck! It was so cool, it spits fire and “eats” cars. That was definitely a hit with Jemma. After the show, we were exhausted! We stopped for dinner then hit the pool before bed time.

Before heading home we got up early to spend the morning at Skaha Lake and visit with Jemma’s Nana and Grampy that live in Kelowna. We played at the spray park and Jemma took a dip in the cool water. On our route back home we stopped at a fave childhood pit stop, Tickleberry’s. They make their own chocolates, fudge, kettle corn and serves more than fifty flavors of ice-cream. The store is filled with knick knacks and gifts, so many things to look at! Walking in brings back so many wonderful memories of summers spent stopping here, and now it’s a yearly tradition with my daughter too!

As we began our drive home, my little one couldn’t stop talking about all the fun we had—from the thrilling monster trucks to the laughter-filled moments at Loco Landing, and the peaceful time at the lakes. It was a Mother’s Day weekend filled with joy, excitement, and memories we’ll cherish forever.
If you ever get the chance to catch the Malicious Monster Trucks tour in Penticton, along with the fun activities the area has to offer, I highly recommend it! It’s the perfect family outing, especially on a beautiful spring weekend. BONUS!! It’s cheaper to travel here during this time as it’s still considered the “off-season”.
